ABOUT US

What Is Crest Review?

An independent FDD analysis service built for franchise buyers who want clarity before commitment.

WHAT WE ARE

Crest Review is an FDD analysis service.

Crest Review delivers plain-English analysis of Franchise Disclosure Documents in 48 hours. We serve prospective franchise buyers and franchise brokers across the United States. Our reports translate the legal and financial language of an FDD into clear, actionable intelligence so buyers can make informed decisions before committing to a franchise investment.

Crest Review is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Our reports are due diligence tools, not legal opinions. We always recommend that buyers also consult a qualified franchise attorney before signing any agreement.

THE PROBLEM WE SOLVE

The FDD is 300 pages of legal language written to protect the franchisor.

Every franchisor operating in the United States is required by the Federal Trade Commission to provide a Franchise Disclosure Document to prospective buyers before any agreement is signed. The FDD contains 23 standardized sections covering everything from the franchisor's litigation history and financial condition to ongoing fees, territory rights, and the terms under which your franchise can be terminated or transferred.

Most FDDs run between 200 and 500 pages. They are written by franchise attorneys whose primary obligation is to the franchisor, not the buyer. Most prospective franchisees either hand the document to an attorney and hope for the best, or sign without fully understanding what they agreed to. Neither approach is adequate for a $150,000 to $1,000,000 decision.

Crest Review reads every page of the FDD and delivers a plain-English report that tells you exactly what you are getting into before you sign. Our analysis covers all 23 Items, flags non-standard provisions, extracts key financial metrics, and rates the opportunity across eight risk and opportunity categories.

WHO WE SERVE

Built for buyers and the brokers who advise them.

Prospective franchise buyers are our primary audience. If you are evaluating a franchise opportunity and want to understand what the FDD actually says before spending thousands on legal fees or making a commitment, Crest Review is built for you. Our Core Report ($750) and Premium Report ($1,200) give you the analytical foundation to make a confident, informed decision.

Franchise brokers and consultants use Crest Review to add a layer of independent due diligence to their client recommendations. Our broker referral program offers discounted rates and a simple referral process. If you work with franchise buyers and want to provide them with credible, independent FDD analysis, visit our broker partnership page.

WHY WE EXIST

Clarity before commitment.

The franchise industry has a structural information asymmetry problem. Franchisors and their attorneys understand the FDD in detail. Most buyers do not. That imbalance leads to buyers making major financial commitments without fully understanding the terms they are agreeing to, the fees they will owe, the rights they are giving up, or the risks embedded in the contract.

Crest Review exists to close that gap. We believe every person considering a franchise investment deserves to understand exactly what they are signing before they sign it. Our mission is to make that possible at a price point that is accessible to individual buyers, not just large institutional investors.

OUR REPORTS

What a Crest Review FDD analysis includes.

Every Crest Review report covers all 23 Items in the FDD with plain-English explanations of what each section says and what it means for you as a buyer. Reports include an Opportunity and Risk Overview that rates the franchise across eight categories — each rated STRONG, ACCEPTABLE, REVIEW, or CONCERN — so you can quickly identify where the opportunity is strongest and where the risks are concentrated.

The Core Report ($750) delivers comprehensive plain-English FDD analysis in 48 hours. The Premium Report ($1,200) adds a side-by-side comparison with industry norms, deeper financial performance analysis of Item 19, and specific negotiation leverage points — clauses worth pushing back on before you sign.
